Located in the IU Biotechnology Research & Training Center (BRTC), Femtera Labs currently occupies around 1,050 square feet of modern laboratory spaces along with additional office spaces via lease agreement directly with the IU. Moreover, Femtera Labs has full access to other shared facilities in this building such as autoclave facility, loading dock, conference rooms, break room, etc.

Treated as an IUSM affiliate, Femtera Labs is also offered access to the IU library and training systems as well as use of the IT resources such as the secured document storage/sharing BOX. In addition, Femtera Labs is allowed to go with the IU Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) and IU Institutional Review Board (IRB) to achieve its IBC and IRB approvals.

BRTC is a part of the IUSM north campus and also belongs to the currently under-construction 16 Tech Innovation District located in Downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. As one of the most impactive events to the current and future life of Indiana Hoosiers, 16 Tech is specifically designed and emerging for creative thinkers and doers in technologies, life sciences and advanced engineering to connect, collaborate and innovate.

Femtera Labs is also strongly supported by the Indiana Biobank (IB). So far, the IB has been the primary resource for Femtera Labs to acquire various types of high quality and affordable de-identified human samples for R&D use.

A solid relationship has been existing between Femtera Labs and the Indiana Center for Biomedical Innovation (ICBI). ICBI is a non-profit incubator operated by the IU and IU Health in supporting life science technology development and commercialization in Indiana. Femtera Labs was a resident company at the ICBI before moving into the current BRTC building. The fully equipped laboratories and facilities at the ICBI dramatically helped Femtera Labs grow steadily.

In addition, Femtera is a member of the Indiana Health Industry Forum (IHIF). With a mission to connect key stakeholders to enhance business networks, advocate for member interests, develop workforce skills, and provide strategic vision in the interest of growing the state’s health industry economy and reputation, IHIF is a statewide trade association representing Indiana’s health science business community.
