Dr. Grant (Guohua) Xiong

Co-Founder, President and CEO

Dr. Xiong’s career path features an integration of academical research, industrial R&D, and commercial testing services. As a board-certified Toxicological Chemist through the renowned National Registry of Certified Chemists (NRCC), Dr. Xiong’s recent R&D interests have been primarily connected to metabolomics, biomarker discovery, biotransformation/ ADME , and development/ commercialization of innovative laboratory-developed tests (LDTs) for disease detection, in particular for multiple cancer detection. Dr. Xiong was a professor at Jiujiang University, China (resigned in 2000), and carried out cutting-edge research work at Northumbria University in UK, University of Waterloo in Canada, and University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. He also worked with the U.S. EPA – National Exposure Research Laboratory as a research awardee of the U.S. National Research Council (NRC). He switched to industry in 01/2008 and then successively worked with Analytical Bio-Chemistry Labs, Covance Labs, SAFC Pharm of Sigma-Aldrich Corporation, and Eurofins Lancaster Labs. Dr. Xiong led to establish Femtera from scratch and has been playing the current roles with the company in a full-time manner beginning 07/2017.

Dr. Xiong earned his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Sun Yat-sen (Zhongshan) University, China. He also received a comprehensive business training in the AXIS Mentoring Program jointly offered by Indiana University, Purdue University, University of Notre Dame, Indiana Biosciences Research Institute, 16 Tech, and BioCrossroads.

Dr. Yanhui Wang

Co-Founder

Dr. Wang is a seasoned banker and investor. Having published two bestsellers, Private Equity and The Value of PE, he is one of the most famous Private Equity (PE) researchers and authors in China. Also, having worked at Ping-An Bank, Shenzhen Commercial Bank, and China Merchants Kunlun Capital Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of China Merchants Group) as Vice President and Member of the Board of Directors for over a decade, Dr. Wang has solid experience and extensive network in the fields of finance and investment.

Dr. Wang received a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University, a Master of Economics from Chinese Academy of Fiscal Sciences, and a Doctor of Management from Xi’an Jiaotong University in China. He also received a Bachelor of Economics from Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics in China. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at Xi’an Jiaotong University and an Advisor of Professional Practice at Tsinghua University in China.

Dr. Joyce (Qun) Wang

Laboratory Manager / Principal Scientist

Dr. Wang joined Femtera Labs in September 2017, bringing into the company her extensive expertise in biology, medical science and big data analysis for dealing with the great challenges associated with metabolomics studies and biomarker studies for disease detection. By taking the roles of Principle Scientist and Laboratory Manager, she has been dedicated to helping the president & CEO oversee and coordinate a wide variety of the Company’s administrative and technical activities.

Dr. Wang has extensively worked on developmental biology, investigating cell cycling genes, transcription regulation and signaling pathways involved in growth and pattern control using Drosophila and human cells as the study models. Also, she spent several years in studying pathogenesis of asthma and autoimmune diseases. Most of her innovative work has been published in the prestigious journals of the related research fields.

Dr. Wang received her Ph.D. in Entomology from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ). Also, she earned a Masters degree in Applied Statistics from Purdue University in the United States. Dr. Wang conducted her post-doctoral research at University of Washington and Texas A&M University. She was a research faculty member with Indiana University School of Medicine before joining Femtera Labs.

 

Ms. Kristin M. Jones

Volunteering Business Strategy Advisor

Since 2009, Kristin has been President and CEO of the Indiana Health Industry Forum (IHIF), a not-for-profit trade association representing the state’s health science corporations (https://ihif.org/staff/ ). IHIF maintains a membership of 150 companies and is a primary networking, advocacy, and strategic planning resource for the sector. She is a past-chair of the Council of State Bioscience Associations (CSBA).

Also, she is a member of several advisory boards, including the Indiana District Export Council (DEC), Diversity Accords, and the Indiana Small Business Development Center. Previously, Kristin spent multiple years in the management and/or senior management positions with other companies/organizations. Kristin earned her bachelor degree in French and master degree in public affairs from Indiana University – Bloomington.

Femtera joined IHIF in 03/2020 and has received strong support from Kristin. Recently, Kristin started to offer her gracious help to Femtera as a Volunteering Business Strategy Advisor.

 

Dr. Christoph Reinhard

Volunteering Technical Advisor

Dr. Reinhard was Senior Director of Oncological Translational Research at Eli Lilly & Company. After retiring from this employment in 05/2020, he has been founder and owner of CRJ Life Science Consulting (Indianapolis, Indiana), co-founder and partner of ASC Oncology GmbH (Berlin, Germany), and board member of Cellphenomics (Berlin, Germany).

Dr. Reinhard received his B.Sc. & M.Sc. in Germany and Ph.D. from University of Basel, Switzerland. He carried out postdoctoral research at Chiron Corp, Emeryville, USA, and received his MBA from University of Phoenix, USA.

Dr. Reinhard became a Volunteering Technical Advisor with Femtera in 2021.
